In the year 835, Berengar the Wise, a Frankish nobleman, died. All Saints Day was made compulsory by Pope Gregory IV throughout Frankish Kingdom. Ragnar Lodbrok, a Norse Viking ruler, rose to power. He became the scourge of France and England. Danish Viking raiders allied with the Cornish against the rule of King Egbert of Wessex (approximate date). The Isle of Sheppey (off the northern coast of Kent) was attacked by Vikings.
